How to reach Valladolid
BY PLANE
Madrid Airport:
- Most common way to enter Spain from abroad.
- There is a fast train connection to Valladolid from Madrid Chamartín – Clara Campoamor train station.
- There is also a direct bus connection from Madrid Airport to Valladolid bus station. More info: Alsa.
Valladolid Airport:
- Incoming flights from: Barcelona, Gran Canaria and Tenerife.
- Nearest airport to the city. Located in the town of Villanubla.
- The bus journey from the airport to Valladolid city centre takes approximately 25–30 minutes. Passengers have access to a special service connecting the airport with Valladolid city centre and other key locations, such as the Trade Fair Centre, the railway station and the bus station, as well as an intercity bus service.
- The airport also has an urban taxi rank.
Bilbao Airport:
- Another airport, relatively near to Valladolid and less busy than Madrid.
- Connection to Valladolid is not as fast as Madrid’s.
Barcelona Airport:
- There is a possibility to reach Valladolid by train from Barcelona.
BY TRAIN
Valladolid Campo Grande Station:
- Valladolid has excellent high-speed rail connections and allows passengers to reach Madrid in around 60 minutes.
- Renfe offers AVE, Avant services with numerous daily frequencies between Madrid and Valladolid, as well as other trains such as Alvia, providing access to areas in the north of the country.
- In addition, from Campo Grande Station, OUIGO offers direct high-speed trains to Madrid, with several daily frequencies with economic prices.
- Connections to Valladolid from: Oviedo, Santander, Bilbao, Barcelona, Madrid and Santiago de Compostela.
- Travel aggregators like Trainline or Uber can help you to book the best option at the lowest price comparing all available companies.
- NOTE: tickets are usually available 3 or 6 months before the departure. So probably will be announced around November.
BY BUS
Valladolid Bus Station:
- Valladolid Bus Station is one of the busiest terminals in inland Spain. Located in the city centre, just a few metres from Campo Grande railway station, it serves as a key intermodal hub connecting the capital of the Pisuerga with the rest of Spain and the airport, providing easy access to the historic centre and the shopping area.
- The terminal is located at Calle Puente Colgante, 2. Its central location allows travellers to reach the area around the Cavalry Academy and Campo Grande Park in just a few minutes on foot.

Valladolid is a city that surprises visitors with its elegance and historical significance, serving as the administrative heart of Castile and Leon. Known as the former capital of the Spanish Court, it offers a perfect blend of imperial heritage and vibrant cultural life.
Its main tourist attractions are:
- Plaza Mayor: It was the first regular main square in Spain and served as the model for Madrid’s Plaza Mayor. It is the epicenter of the city, famous for its intense red color and the statue of Count Ansúrez.
- Valladolid Cathedral: Known as “The Unfinished One,” this imposing temple designed by Juan de Herrera houses the magnificent altarpiece by Juan de Juni.
- National Sculpture Museum: Located in the beautiful Colegio de San Gregorio, it is one of the most important museums of its kind in Europe, featuring polychrome wooden sculptures by masters such as Berruguete.
- Church of San Pablo: Its Isabelline Gothic façade is a true “stone lacework” and one of the most photographed landmarks in the city.
- Campo Grande: A green oasis in the very center of the city, where peacocks roam freely among ponds and romantic fountains.

The Millenium Dome
Millenium Square in Valladolid is a modern urban space covering 7.500 m², located on the banks of the Pisuerga River. It is especially notable for the Millenium Dome, a multi-purpose building with a unique architectural design, originally brought from Expo Zaragoza 2008.
Opened in 2011, the square is a meeting point offering leisure areas, illuminated fountains, children’s play areas and an underground car park.
